Primary Music in April (in Dutch)

I had a chance to step in to lead the music time in Primary (jeugdwerk) again today. I was excited, but also disappointed, when I realized that my Dutch language skills aren't really any better than they were last year at the same time when I substituted. Luckily, the children are very forgiving and the other adult leaders could help translate my broken Dutch when needed for the kids to understand better.

Today, we were learning Getsémané (English: Gethsemane Hymns for Church and Family 1009). We have a simplified version translated into Dutch, even thought he official translation has not yet been published. We are looking at 2030 before the official new Hymns for Church and Family is published in Dutch. I'm not sure if they will release any of the new hymn translations before then. At least for now, we have a few of them in Dutch.

So the regular Primary Music chorister had a word poster for Getsémané and I anticipated really teaching it to the kids, as if they didn't know it... but they did. I'm not entirely sure if they had already learned it in Primary (because the word poster was definitely newly made during the week before I subbed) or if they had learned it at home. I think several of the families are using the new hymns at home because it seems they know several of them.

The twenty minutes flew by.
